Florence and the machine

ahhhhhhh Florence, what a lovely place. Yeap Florence and the machine running through my iPod all the time.

First of all, it take us a solid 4 hours train ride from Rome to Florence. A small hiccups on the arrival transportation to our hostel, but nothing beats cycling all around Florence town for 9 hours.

Half of our Europe trip time have clocked in traveling 1 destination to another. Yeap we did it all, by air, bus, cab, train & even boat. Make sure you have a good pair of trainners, bagpack & a deck of card. Card games are crucial when your on a train.

Best decision we made in our Europe trip have to be renting a bike in Florence.

Trip: If you're around Florence, please go rent a bike & start cycling.... SUPA FUN!!! It save up lots of our money on buses & taxi to travel around. Rent a bike in Florence cost you only 14.50euros per day. Visit their site www.florencebybike.it trust me you wont regret this.

Basically we paddle & cycling around the town like a headless chicken.

Stop by couple of nice park just for a quick coffee..

Got lost couple of time, thank god for Google Map..

The 2nd day, an early breakfast then off to the Pisa Tower.

Easiest way to travel to Pisa is by Train Italia. We took an hour train ride. Don't worry the ticket machine stated clearly a "Pisa Tower" stop. You won't miss it, just make sure you don't miss the train.

Product Testing: Nike T90 Laser iv

The latest instalment of T90 Laser iv has been redesigned to offer ultimate percision and power. With the key assets like Wayne Rooney, Torres and Pato, merging their strike & the ball are a serious business, and we are here to provide them the accessability to achieve a perfect strike.

The new T90 Laser iv designed specifically for strikers seeking for super-natural touch, light-weight and striking power. The upper feature a premium graded synthetic material. The off-center lace system designed with memory foam married together to provide a snug fit between the feet structure with the boots.

The big contruction came from the new instalment of sole-plate with TPU bladed stud arrangement. It offer light weight, durability and comfort. With this new sole-plate instalment, it ease up all the past feedback on the weight of T90 Laser iii. Now it weight on 270g, 50g lighter then the past professor.

Compare to the Laser iii, designer decided to implement a one piece TPU bladed stud sole-plate. As this cuts out a large portion of the weight of the boots. And also with the new bladed studs arrangement provide optimal penetration speed and grip while still allowing release for quick turns and agility.

Lastly the key highlight of the T90 Laser iv "Adaptive Sheild". The infamous adaptive sheild have been the key weapon for all of our key assets. Split into 2 distintive zone, the Power Zone & Swerve Zone.

The Power zone broken into strips surrounded by memory foam to enchance power & accuracy.

As for the Swerve zone, the newly re-contructed size & height of the fins prove to generates the neccessary friction to swerve the ball.

Compare to the previous version Laser iii, the new design Adaptive Shield is made of cast TU (Polyurethane) offers flexiblity that enchances the natural motion of the foot.

MY FEEDBACKS
After putting on the new T90 Laser iv, the first thing came to my mind is definitely the weight improvement. I felt a tremendous different as the Laser iii are so much heavier on my legs. It gave me a lighter leg as i engaging an explosive run.

The inner comfort are top notch, i felt cushiony foam snugging around my foot. You might just forget about all the new shoe blister.

As for the Adaptive Shield (Striking Zone), the most functionally part have to be the Swerve Zone fins. With the new improved thinner, shorter & compact fins, it gave me the sufficient friction to swerve the ball. This is definitely an another tool when im going for a free-kick or a corner kick.

Lastly, i reckon the lighter weight contribution came for the new design Sole-plate. As for the comfort, theres not much different as i felt equally comfortable on both edition. Big different goes to the new bladed studs, as i felt it allows me the a smooth, easy & quick turn & toe off. Playing on a more softer ground, i felt the bladed studs slicing through the ground easily.

Overall, what stood up the most is the new T90 Laser iv is easy adaptable. I break it to the boot straight away on my first try. Compare to the Tiempo Elite iv, it took me 5 games to adapt to the boots. No blister, no discomfort compare to my first trial on the Tiempo ELite iv.

I only trialed the new T90 Laser iv for 1 full 90mins game, lets see what i gain from when i start hitting to a different field ground. Ill update once again after i hit my 10th games with the T90 Laser iv.

ATHLETE'S FEEDBACK
First thing came out his mouth is how light the new T90 Laser iv. I remember Aidil said "Finally a T90 which is light weight". As a T90 user, Aidil disgusted his comparison from the Laser iii & iv.

Overall the Laser iii is more a solid structure boots compare to the Laser iv. As the Laser iv outter contruction looks abit cheap. I remember Aidil asking me "Yik why you giving me a second graded boots".

But once he put it on, you can see his face actually glowed. The inner comfort of the boot are just noticeable. There's no synthetic boots provide such an inner comfort. With the memory foam technology, i personally felt the comfort in the new Laser iv is even better the a pair of leather boots.

Lastly as for the revised adaptive shield, athlete felt the edition are more responsive. "The swerve fins actually gave me more friction to curl the ball" said Aidil.

What i love about Rome is how slow the day goes by, only our 3rd day we have visited so many amazing places. But nothing compare to the Vatican City. Just purely AMAZING!

Europe Trip tips: Purchase your tickets online & make sure it included an english tour guide or same as the Colissuem, look for the many tour salesperson around the venue. Don't worry is all legit.

Super pysched on the Vatican City as my aim is to see the The Sistine Chapel. The architecture, art & structures are just mind blowing Amazing. All i have to say is "Michelangelo is such an inspiration to the world" just purely Amazing.

Our first morning, woke up automatically around 7ish to a cooling breezy morning. Perfect for a morning run.

We decided to make our 1st Europe trip breakfast. Without a doubt, heading to the grocery store gotta be the hardest task in the book. As every product are label in Italian. The key is Google :)

First stop is Rome most historical icon the Coliseum. Just about 3km from our service apartment, I highly recommended a slow walk to the Colliseum, as theres so many things to see along the journey.

The key to Coliseum tickets is look for the many Tour Salesperson, as they provide tour package including of an english speaking tour guide. Anything below 20 euros you're save to go.

The Coliseum is a historical piece of art. The Roman architecture are just gladiatorial mind blowing. Capital of the world indeed.

As what all sneakerheads predicted, bring back the iconic Back to the Future's Nike MAG shoe (aka Marty McFly). But sadly it won't be hitting on our shelf as Nike today announced that 1500 pairs of the mythical 2011 NIKE MAG shoes will be auctioned on www.nikemag.eBay.com with all net proceeds going directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The first rechargeable footwear from Nike, the 2011 NIKE MAG shoes, was designed to be precise replicas of the original from Back to the Future II. The aesthetic is an exact match, down to the contours of the upper, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent NIKE in the strap. The only deviation from the original is additional foam support in the ankle and toe box for increased comfort. The 2011 NIKE MAG illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.

“We wanted to translate the excitement people have for the ‘greatest shoe never made’ and for the Back to the Future into positive action,” said Mark Parker, Nike CEO, who was on the Back to the Future II set in 1988 when Fox donned the original NIKE MAG shoes. “But the long-term objective is to use our creativity to raise unprecedented awareness so the Foundation can achieve their goal of eradicating Parkinson’s disease.”

Europe Trip: Sneaker

Been planning for my europe trip for a year, and now is just on the corner, im PSYCHED! Europe trip has always been my after graduation to do list. And i glad that i manage to include it before i turn 30 years old.

With the excitment of the trip, i love the process of gearing up, Luggage bag, jackets, shoes, scarf etc.. The first thing went through my mind have to be my shoes.

A sneaker freak i am, deciding a shoes to rock on the trip have to be my favourite thing to do.

From past europe experience, on the month of September is the tricky one. Hooping country to country on a wet weather, im not gonna make the same mistake again. The mistake were rocking a mesh running shoe in a wet Manchester weather. A wet and soaking runners around the day gave me a new defination of cold feet!

This time round, i had short listed the Nike Air Max 2011. Am looking for an all-day walking / all weather / full heel support / dope shoe. I believe the full 360 air unit system gonna provide me the full comfy support on my feets and break some neck along. hehehe

No repeating the same mistake, this time im going for a more solid leather upper. Tip: aviod any mesh, suede, canvas upper materials. It might be a lighter material, but it also accumulate water, and the last thing you want is a wet socks on your trip.

Overall, i reckon the AM2011 is a solid bet for my comfort. With the Harimau Muda colorwave, im save to say that im good to go on my feets.

The Gunner Visits

Here you go, what's went down when the Gunners boys came visiting.

This is a big moment for me, handling an european elite athlete. In my Sports marketing bible, it stated "any professional level of athlete must be treated in the same manner". It doesn't matter you're on the top of the game or an under 17 athlete, there's only one way to handle an athlete which is professionally.

I were lucky enough to handle 4 Arsenal players, Theo Wilcott, Alex Song, Wojciech Szczęsny and my personal favourite Jack Wilshere.

It interest me that, all 4 of them are relatively similar to my boys. They're all naughty.

Alex Song is my personally favourite, he is always on his Beats headpone dancing on his tunes, making fun of Theo as he is the shy & serious type.

Wojciech is a man on his own level, level of height i meant. The tall lengthy goalkeeper is the future for the team and he knows it. He is leader in this group, always leading the charge as i guess it came from being a goalkeeper.

In the other hand, Jack is the smart one. Media savvy as he is always dropping the key message when he's with the media. Always on the go with his twitter. It is nice to see athlete knows how to sell themselve.

On the side track, i met my sports marketing counterpart from London. Exchange stories on both country were refreshing. Specially the Barca-Fabregas saga were the main highlights. The similarity of handling Fabregas & my own Safiq Rahim. I can seat the whole day talk about sports marketing. I always wonder how it like to run a bigger marketing like London? To my surprise, it is relatively similar in some ways.

Like human potential itself, there is no finish line.

Like human potential itself, there is no finish line. The end product doesn't end there, what's the after life on a pair of shoe. It is as simple as recycled to another product.

Nike Grind - ReUse a Shoe Campaign grind all used shoes to make raw materials for athletic surfaces.

Yeap is that simple, a pair of shoe will divided to 3 part: Rubber from the outsoles, fabric from the uppers, and foam from the mid soles.

Shoe tear it down to the different part, then grind it up to make raw material for 3 different athletic surfaces (Running track, Basketball court & Tennis court).

Product Testing: Seitiro Ball

Don't you just love product testing? This time around lets work on the new Nike Seitiro Ball.

First of all, there’s many thought merged into the new Seitito Ball, but I’m just gonna focus on these two: Geo II Balance Technology and Nike RaDar Technology.

The new and improved Geo II Balanced technology certainly the main contribution to the ball. The geometric provide an equal distribution of pressure all across the panels. It provides a more consistent, accurate, and powerful strike on the ball.

On My Feedback: The Geo II works accurately as I made a strike on the ball. I felt the consistency swerving of the ball, specially when I’m trying a Safiq Rahim Free Kicks. As a set piece taker, accuracy of the swerve is important to my game. For the whole 90 minutes, I found no problem hitting all my corner kicks & free kicks. It definitely provides an efficiency and accuracy of my strikes.

Nike RaDar technology utilizes a scientifically tested combination of color, contrast, and graphic design placement. Same as the Superfly heel Visual Acuity Graphic, the RaDar pattern provides same visual signal that helps players quickly identify the ball and its movement.

On My Feedback: What I love about the new Superfly III definitely is the visual signal it provides to the midfields. It helps me (a midfielder) to identify our forwards. Putting that into a ball, brilliant idea! Specially love the orange pods on the RaDar pattern, similar to the Tiempo Elite iv. The striking orange does help me on my quick glance vision. As a creative midfielder, identify the next pass have to be quick. Good job Nike!

Other attributes: The overall nitrogen foam material is top notch. It provides a superior touch and control of the ball. I felt a better connect between the Seitiro ball and my CTR ii. I felt the ease of high impact volley as it doesnt hurts my fore foot, and provides a true ball touch on my boots.

Most significant attribute goes to the ease impact on the head when you’re going for a header. A softer impact compare to the previous Tracer ball. As for the goalkeeper, the nitrogen foam gloved a better grip of the ball & gloves and absorbs shot impact.

Negative feedbacks: A poor durability on the surface. After only a full 90 minutes game, you can see all RaDar design pattern starts peeling out.

Truly love the new & improved Ball by Nike.

Yes what I do for living is pretty complicated. Im a marketer for sports. With no guidebook nor bible or right or wrong to do my job. So how do you measure my success in Sports Maketing?

And yes i wear a varsity jacket, a big tee, camo shorts & a Jordan to work everyday. And yes, no one take me seriously, because im not wearing your so called #powersuits to work, nor i do not seat in the office in front of the computer, nor i carry a backpack then a leather laptop bag, nor i earn alot of money, drive big car. And yes watching football matches is part of my job. Im not here to be like you!

This is what i am..

Is always my nature to search for my personal potential, always a dreamer. A dream that drives me to live, a dream that motivates me to move, to push harder, and a dream to one day to inspired others.

I live my life with these 3 strong words, TEACH, MOTIVATE & INSPIRE. I apply these to all part of my life. Constant searching for the Sound of Victory, and hope one day my story will be heard.

I been through the hardship in life, but eventually I take the responsibility of the "Facts of Life", I was determined to make a difference. Just that I believe in heroes & dreams, I also believe in the power of Human Potentials to overcome any obstacle, even those seem impossible.

Vietnam Hanoi, what an inspired journey for my new chapter in life.

This is my first official business trip *Alone*. The fact that i don't speak their language, nor the knowledge of the country plus all alone, it is an eye opening for me.

The chilly 10 degrees celsius, hectic traffic, dusty environment and rundown architectures pretty much scared me on my cab ride to the hotel. After settling down at Inter Continental Hotel *which by the way is pretty Dope*, manage to walk out to grab lunch and took some pictures off the lake.

P-ROD 4

Paul Rodriguez is the inaugural skater for Nike. For the past couple of years, we have seen Paul's signature shoe debuting off our shelves. It is interesting to see what the good people of Nike have put out on the latest P-Rod series.

The P-Rod 4 is one of 2010 most well architected shoe, i personally are blown away for the technological detailing of this skate shoe. Never in the game of skating, i have seen a well constructed shoe. I have been waiting long to own one myself.

This fourth installation employed a more tone down structure than the last 3 installments. Surrounded by grey suede based, red leather Swoosh & finish with a re-structured confine tongue.

The collection introduce an unique grid design on its outsole. Inspired from Nike Free technology, the front outsoles provide much more flexibility when you toe off.

Overall, the P-Rod 4 is a well mature series, straight to the point, performance skate shoe. I don't skate, so the P-Rod 4 will be my daily everyday work shoe for me.

31st December, a newly announced public holiday just for an achievement of a football team. Do we deserved it?

This public holiday is to celebrate the achievement of the national football team, beating all odds & criticisms from the nation itself, bracing humiliation after the opening 5-1 thrashing from our greatest rival / neighbour Indonesia, stayed strong mentally playing against booing crowd. Noted that, all this pressure are carried by a bunch of young inexperience boys mainly an average of 21 years old. Standing on a pitch facing full seasonal international experienced footballers with full of booing background noises. I was standing with the crowd, and i felt well intimidated.

NO ONE, NO ONE believe the team from the start, but once we are crowned Champion, everyone noticed. Do you only support an organisation when they are on a winning streak? What about when the team are on a rock bottom when they need our support the most? This is purely disgrace to a person against their own national team.

I was lucky to experienced to the back room training process of a high funded Manchecter United club and a small football nation like our own Malaysia national team FAM. The different are well sky and land, fancy, full equipped, huge facilities of Manchester & old simple limited FAM. But the similarity of both football organisation share the same / most important attribute in football, "the passion of football".

Recently i have been working closely with the National youth football head coach, talking & traveling with him makes me open my eyes on the his commitment & passion he takes for his job. Grassroots are the fundamental of the stepping stone of every sports, his is the person to grow our future athletes.

Then to the main man (Coach K.Rajagobal) the head coach of our national football team, who i believe he is the person who makes a boy a man. Everytime i look at him, he resemble to the greatest architect of football Arsene Wenger coach of Arsenal football club. The persistence and believe in the future of Malaysia Football flow in his blood. Bitting bullets from all the criticisms on his build of the young and inexperienced team. His stayed with his tactics from the beginning, and now it has finally paid off. To all our surprise, Coach K.Rajagobal said this young team is a preparation of the success in 2 years time. And look at them now, beating all odds the success came early!

This is a fairy tale story, missing 10 regular international caps player from injury. The young players have to step up onto the center stage, learning as they played. The pressures are well high as they are caring the national flag, bracing through a hard learnt lesson on the 1st game thrashing by indonesia then working through game by game. You all have gained respects from me personally. I have never seen a bunch of brotherhood as strong as this. It is a fair tale story in the end, this is the moment will stayed in my heart forever.

For the longest time of my life, i never knew where's my contribution goes to? A firemen flight to save lifes, policemen guards for safety, Kanye makes music to change the generation, Iniesta score for nation pride, Obama leads to change, Brian work to market Coke, my brother research for the future, Renee live to inspired. I wonders what's mine?

For 4 years of my working career, i work to be employed and only that.

Now i can proudly say that, I work to inspired kids, to give all kids the Experience! In some ways i believe, i do work to change the Nation Football. AND NOW YOU TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME!

Brotherhood

Im here to tell you a story, a story of a brotherhood achieving the un-achievable.

The story start with the Manchester United Premier Cup, world's most prestigious tournament for Under 15 footballers. A tournament which offers kids a platform to perform on an international level. Famous footballers like Iniesta, Fabregas, Torres, Tevez were once part of MUPC in their youth days.

Thousand of teams around South East Asia participated in the regional qualifying round, and only 1 team will be representing our small region against the rest of the world. This is our own version of Champion League.

The Journey started with this bunch of kids who have been playing together ever since the age of 10 till 15 year old. A brotherhood who has gone through all the thick & thin of football difficulties. The story was told that, these boys have been brought up with no encouragement on future of Football in Malaysia. From a small town in Kedah where a minimum of football education are expose, the lack of training facilities & the shortage of media expose. Clearly thats not the main factors for those kids, the brotherhood of passion, persistence & believe in this beautiful game have carried them to here, MANCHESTER!

Representing ASEAN in World Final against the rest of the world.

Representing our country is an honorable thing, representing the South East Asia as a whole is just indescribable feeling.

A Malaysia flag embroided on your chest & upper back, is just a huge weight to carry.

I was lucky enough to witness these brotherhood's journey to Manchester. During the long cold week of Football war at Manchester, the boys have been in high spirits, every morning before training the boys sings the Kedah anthem and "Negaraku". I have never met a group of boys with so much dedication & discipline.

The World Final staged at Manchester United's training facility in Carrington Manchester. It is an honour to step on the same pitch as the professionals.

We South East Asia representative, MSS Kedah has been drawn into Group C with home team, Manchester United, FC Barcelona (Spanish finalist), Alta Loma Arsenal SC (USA Finalist) & Sutherland Sharks (Oceania Finalist).

As many would argued that draw in the group of big guns like Manchester United & Barcelona would be lucky, but our boys are trills that they will have the chance to play with some quality talents from the professional team. This is the dedication we are lacking for years. I am truly honour to know each and everyone of them.

This journey is a huge encouragement and a prominent step in the elevation of grassroots football in Malaysia, and that are truly inspire other young players to follow in the footsteps of MSS Kedah.

Big thumbs up for the Brotherhoods, your my inspiration.

As for my annual trips with my couple friends, this time around i bring you to the Sunny state of Gold Coast Queenland.

After all the hectic and dramatic year of the new decade, it is real nice for a getaway.

The magic number for this year are 4 lovely couples & 1 single Joe. As they do all the "Couple-ly" stuff, my job is solely photography.

In these modern generation, i truly believe that is okay to follow then lead. Hence the oldest saying, "You have to learn to follow before you can lead"!

Lead? Is overrated by self egoness, we cant measure lead.. I believe there's 2 types of people in this world, you have people who create authenticity, and you have the authenticator. An authenticator try to create from knowledge of what other people have done, creator of authenticity create from learning & making mistake, making something on their own.

We live in a land of opportunities & motivations, I never want to pursue, i want to achieve.

The Football frenzy is back, with The FIFA World Cup 2010 just around the corner, the whole globe are hyping up to the Biggest sporting competition in the world.

With no surprise, our favourite Brand NIKE never disappoint us. Back to back product launch:

1st up was the revised / ultra lightweight Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II boots. Real Madrid Christiano Ronald unveiled the Ultra light weight Flywire which designed to fuel an “explosive acceleration”. For more detail on the SUPERFLY

Follow by the unveiled of the new national team kits at a global media event at Battersea Power Station in London. Nike’s national teams including Brazil, Portugal, USA, South Korean, Australia, Serbia, New Zealand, Slovenia and The Netherlands will be going GREEN this year as their team kit’s jerseys are made entirely from recycled polyester.

Yes the jerseys are fully made out from recycled plastic polyester, 8 bottles to a jersey precisely! Each jersey is produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles sourced from Japanese and Taiwanese landfill sites. The bottles are melted down to produce new yarn for the jerseys.

This process saves raw materials and reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to manufacturing virgin polyester. By using recycled polyester for its new range of national jerseys, Nike prevented nearly 13 million plastic bottles, totaling nearly 254,000kg of polyester waste, from going into landfill sites. This amount would be enough to cover more than 29 football pitches. If the recycled bottles used to make the jerseys were laid end-to-end they would cover more than 3,000 kilometres, which is more than the entire coastline of South Africa.

For summer finals, the kits were designed with the improved Nike Dri-Fit fabric to keep players drier, cooler and more comfortable to keep their performance at an optimum. The new Dri-Fit is 15% lighter than previous fabric and draws sweat outside the garment where it evaporates. Plus, ventilation zones created from 200 tiny laser cuts backed by Nike’s halo application on the side increases airflow to the player’s torso.
